Obama couldn’t get a security clearance

With Colin Powell now repeating the lie that Barack Obama has "always been a Christian," despite new information further confirming Obama's Muslim childhood (such as the Indonesian school registration listing him as Muslim), one watches with dismay as the Democratic candidate manages to hide the truth on this issue.
Instead, then, let us review a related subject – Obama's connections and even indebtedness, throughout his career, to extremist Islam. Specifically, he has longstanding, if indirect ties to two institutions, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), listed by the U.S. government in 2007 as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas-funding trial; and the Nation of Islam (NoI), condemned by the Anti-Defamation League for its "consistent record of racism and anti-Semitism."
Pipes goes on to cite a plethora of sources documenting Obama's ties to both Islamist organizations and the Nation of Islam specifically (read the whole thing). He then states (emphasis added):
That Obama's biography touches so frequently on such unsavory organizations as CAIR and the Nation of Islam should give pause. How many of politicians have a single tie to either group, much less seven of them? John McCain charitably calls Obama "a person you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States," but Obama's multiple links to anti-Americans and subversives mean he would fail the standard security clearance process for Federal employees.
In other words, the only way Barack Obama can get a job in the White House is by being elected to it, because he'd fail the background check if he applied for any job there.
It's infuriating that McCain, in his ongoing quest to campaign as "Mr. Nice Guy," dismissed the legitimate concerns many people have about Obama (and others would have if the McCain campaign gave them the facts). McCain's "charitable" statement stupidly insulated Obama from questions and criticisms that are entirely legitimate and that McCain himself ought to be raising. Is this fool not on his own side, or what?
I really wish I didn't have to vote for John McCain. But the alternative is so frightening and dangerous, I have no choice. So I'll hold my nose and do it. Please … you, too.

What makes this sick, is that we have a number of Muslim Americans in this country that are just as patriotic as I am (I wouldn’t say you, because you don’t behave as a patriot). You’re a divider of people, not one for unity.
To spew lies about Obama’s religion is as misplaced as a John McCain candidacy at this time! YOU SIR, ARE A HATE MONGER.

I laughed out loud reading The Capt.’s comment! Richard, you need a better class of commenter. 🙂 Daniel Pipes is nothing if not thorough in his research. And The Capt, of course, is clueless when it comes to Richard’s character.

The Nation of Islam oooooooooooooooh To many folk it is an viable and responsible orgainization. Whatever the rhetoric about Isreal and Jews I have never heard of where they have made them a target. The black folk who made the jews a target and did commit terroristic acts were from a different sect. But I guess they all look alike.
What many white folk do not realized is the love hate relationship we have with the Jews. In many instances they have been an invaluable help to us and in other ways a major exploiter.
Perhaps it has changed in forty years, but I was able to get a security clearence knowing members of organizations on the House of UnAmerican Activities list.

Agreed! I blogged about this myself. Not only couldn’t Obama ever get a security clearance but he couldn’t work for the FBI or even as a policeman in most cities because of his associations and admitted drug experimentation. It scares me to death that half of America wants to turn our country over to this guy “just because he isn’t George Bush.” I just don’t get it. Our economy won’t matter one iota if we’re blown to bits by terrorists.

Wow, what logic: since many Muslim Americans are patriotic, it’s hate mongering to mention Obama’s associations with those who ”aren’t.” By that reasoning, if I bring up Father Pfleger, I must hate Catholics, and if I mention Bill Ayers, I must hate — what? White people? College professors?
In addition to CAIR and NoI, Pipes cites (with links) several others. And he doesn’t even mention Rashid Khalidi.
As for the Nation of Islam, I wouldn’t put them and the word “responsible” in the same sentence unless the context was “responsible for…” followed by an enumeration of contemptible and/or criminal acts. That “many folk” think otherwise is, IMHO, a sad commentary on those “folk.”

What specific criminal acts do you mean? From what I know any criminal activity would not be related to Jews or any other white folks and not even in Chicago. Please inform me! Most white folks don’t know how the Nation of Islam has operated in the community. Since slavery black folks do not have to unconditionally love white folks or kiss their ass.

Hathor, I have no intention of doing research on the Nation of Islam for you, especially since your previous comments make it clear that nothing I post will change your opinion. Which seems to be that it’s a “responsible” organization because it hasn’t committed ”specific” crimes against ”specific” targets.
It’s a (mostly) free country. You’re free to love or hate people based on their race if you please, and you can kiss or not kiss whatever ass you want.
I’m free to consider race-based judgments of people contemptible and support for Louis Farrakhan, his insane paranoid conspiracy theories, and his crazed followers utterly indefensible. And I do.
